About us

We are a Gorou Centric Zine managed by a team of 7 Moderators.

We hope to be a Physical, and for profit Zine and we are to offer multiple packs of physical and digital merchandise to accompany the zine.


Zine Specifications

We will be creating a SFW soft-cover zine with A5 sized dimensions.

The main Zine will contain 50~100 pages of content (TBC) and we will have a total 25~50 contributors.

Contributor Team Requirements

All contributors, by default, must be 16 or over the age of 16 to take part within this zine. Experience within Zines is not mandatory but is preferred.

You will also require a working email and a working discord account. All our communications will be done through a private discord server, you will be expected to be present within the server for updates and to submit check ins.

You must also have a means of being paid by us once profits are split between the entire team.



Artists will be required to have 3 samples of completed artwork and a portfolio consisting of 5 pieces or more. Using a google drive file is preferable but not mandatory.

We also ask you to correctly tag work with the appropriate rating and warnings when applying, thank you.

Should you be accepted as an artist, you will be expected to provide 1 single page of work.

We will be focussing on the ability to create an engaging piece with an attention to detail, good knowledge of how to paint backgrounds (although not mandatory, we do expect you to be able to create a background that is not just a flat colour) , good knowledge of colour theory and a good knowledge of anatomy. Authors will be required to have 3 samples of 1.5k words to 3k words and a portfolio consisting of 5 pieces or more. Using a google drive file is
preferable but is not mandatory.

We also ask you to correctly tag work with the appropriate rating and warnings when applying, thank you.

Should you be accepted as an author, you will be expected to provide a piece of work that is 2.5k~3k words in length. (TBC)

We are focussing on good pacing, good knowledge of syntax, spelling and grammar and good characterisation.

Zine Questions

What is the Zine Theme?

We are a Gorou Centric Zine, all pieces must feature Gorou as the main character. Other characters are allowed, however they must not be the focus.



What are the Zine Dimensions?

We will be creating a SFW soft-cover zine with A5 sized dimensions.

What is prohibited from the Zine?

The following are banned from the zine's discord & main contents :

We will not be turning down applications based on people's personal and private preferences toward various ships within the fandom. All we ask is you keep such topics away from the server and the zine, thank you!


Moderating Questions

What are your expectations?

All moderators by default are expected to be over the age of 18 and are expected to take part in the general organisation and discussions about the zine's management and progress.

All accepted moderators will also be supplied with appropriate resources for your given role within the private moderating category of the discord server.



You will be expected, by default, to be able to follow through and execute your tasks within the team in a timely manner. All communications for Leave of Absences must be communicated within 2-3 days, failure to do so will result in a 24 hr warning and then a non-negotiable discharge from the team should we not hear back from you.

If you wish to be a moderator for this zine, you will not be able to be a contributor as well, should you be accepted. (This is to be decided completely when we hold discussions with the completed moderating team.)



We are currently looking for:

To apply as a writing moderator you will be expected to ensure that no harmful or derogatory works are created/included within the zine. You will be expected to know and check for basic grammar, syntax, spelling, punctuation etc.

You will be required to of finished at least 3 zines in their entirety, and moderated as this role in at least 1 completed physical zine.

We also ask you to correctly tag work with the appropriate rating and warnings when applying, thank you.

You will require 5 samples of your very best work that are up to 1.5k words in length and a portfolio consisting of at least 10+ pieces. (With at least 5 completed works.) Using a google drive file is preferable but not mandatory.



To apply as an Art moderator you will be expected to review all artist's progress and provide valuable feedback when warranted. You will also be expected to have knowledge of CYMK / RGB colour profiles, Merchandise Creation and Printing Knowledge to a high standard quality.

To apply as an Art moderator you will be required to of finished at least 3 zines in their entirety, and moderated as this role in at least 2 completed physical zines.

We also ask you to correctly tag work with the appropriate rating and warnings when applying, thank you.

You will require 5 completed samples of your very best work and a portfolio consisting of at least 10+ pieces. (With at least 5 completed works.) Using a google drive file is preferable but not mandatory.



For the Shipping, Production & Finances roles it is required you have completed at least 3+ Zines and at least 2+ For-Profit and/or Physical Zines. You must also be experienced within your chosen field and have knowledge on production companies for merchandise and printing.

You will be required to submit at least 5 samples of completed work and a portfolio consisting of 7+ finished works.

Should we be unable to source Shipping, Production & Finances moderators, we will adjust accordingly to be either a free zine and/or a PDF.

To be a Translator, it is required you have completed at least 1+ zines prior as a translator. You will also be required to translate the appropriate social media posts, graphics (the contents of the design being translated), our info document, forms and communicating effectively with our Japanese speaking Contributors.


Contributor Questions

How many contributors are you after?

We will be after 25~50 Contributors (Guests Included) for the Zine. (TBC)



Will you be having Guest Contributors?

We will be having 6 guest contributors. If you have any artists/authors you would like to see featured as a guest, keep an eye out for our interest check on our twitter (@GorouZine).



How are the contributor roles split?

Assuming we will be having our max capacity, e will be splitting the Contributor Roles as follows: 40 Artists, 5 Authors & 5 Merch artists.



What will happen if you do not get enough interest?

In terms of the Interest Check Results: Should we not receive 100+ responses interested in purchasing, we will cancel the project.

In terms of the Application count: we will either downscale the zine to half capacity or we will cancel.

Sales Questions

Will you be shipping/selling worldwide?

Payment Questions

How will I be paid?

All payments to the Contributing and Moderating team will be evenly split and will be distributed via Paypal (or other methods, if available and acceptable).

Please bare in mind, to be paid you must be over 18. Minors will require their share to be paid into their parents/guardians account.

Should you be unable to provide a means of getting paid (either to your own account as an adult, or into your parent/guardian account as a child) your share will be forfeited.

Will I be given a full bundle as compensation?

We aim to give all contributors the full bundle of the zine should sales allow. If sales do not allow this, we are aiming to supply a physical copy of the zine with the accompanying digital merchandise.

Please note : Should sales not allow supplying physical copies, digital copies will be provided instead.
